2026 Bristol Teacher of the Year

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you!
Each year, Bristol Public Schools honors one outstanding educator as our Teacher of the Year—someone who goes above and beyond to inspire students, support colleagues, and make a lasting impact in our schools. This year, we received an incredible 110 nominations from across the district, highlighting the passion, commitment, and excellence of our amazing teachers.

After a thoughtful review process, we are proud to announce the 2026 Bristol Public Schools Teacher of the Year: Ms. Sarah Lindstrom of Bristol Central High School!

Ms. Lindstrom is not only an exceptional educator but also a proud graduate of our school system, the Bristol Eastern Class of 2001.  She returned to Bristol during the COVID-19 pandemic and has spent the last five years teaching in the World Language Department at Bristol Central High School (BCHS).  In total, she brings 18 years of experience to the classroom and is also a recognized leader at the state and national levels.

What sets Ms. Lindstrom apart is her unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of all learners. She listened closely to her students—particularly heritage Spanish speakers—and realized they needed more advanced, meaningful opportunities to grow academically. Thanks to her advocacy and collaboration with district and school teams, Bristol Public Schools launched new heritage Spanish courses at both high schools starting in the 2022–2023 school year.

Because of her efforts, students now have access to more rigorous coursework and a deeper sense of belonging. She has helped students feel seen, valued, and empowered—and that is what great teaching is all about.
Please join us in celebrating Ms. Sarah Lindstrom as our 2026 Teacher of the Year! We are proud to have her as part of our BPS community, and grateful for the lasting difference she is making in the lives of our students.

With gratitude,

Iris White
