Superintendent's Weekly Update- November 2, 2025

Posted Date: 11/02/25 (9:00 AM)

Dear BPS Community,

We understand that the recent changes to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits will affect many in our community.  We also recognize that for families who may not receive SNAP but rely on the free breakfast and lunch provided at school, these changes may bring concern.

We want to assure you that our schools will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. This support will remain in place to help ensure every child has access to nutritious meals during the school day.

Those in need of immediate food assistance, or who want to donate or volunteer, can locate their local food pantry or a mobile pantry by visiting 211ct.org or ctfoodshare.org, or by texting the word FOODSHARE to 85511.  The Department of Social Services has provided additional SNAP information that you may also find helpful. Visit the link provided below.
BPS is planning a districtwide food drive to support our community.  All donations collected will be delivered to local community sites that distribute food to families in need.

Thank you for your continued support and care for one another as we work together to meet the needs of all families in our district.

Reminder-
There is no school for students on Tuesday, November 4, due to Election Day.

In partnership,

Iris White
Superintendent of Schools

National School Psychology Week:
National School Psychology Week
(NSPW) is an annual opportunity to recognize school psychologists' work to help children thrive in school, at home, and in life. This year’s NSPW theme is "Finding Your Path," reflecting the many ways in which school psychologists help students set and achieve their goals. On behalf of Bristol Public Schools, I’d like to thank our school psychologists for supporting student success by improving academic, social, and emotional outcomes through interventions, counseling, and collaboration with families and educators.
