Superintendent's Weekly Update- April 19, 2026
Dear BPS Community:
I hope that everyone enjoyed the Spring Break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow morning!
This Wednesday, we will celebrate Administrative Professionals Day and recognize the exceptional work they do every day in support of our schools and district. Whether welcoming families, coordinating complex schedules, managing critical communications, or supporting staff and students, their contributions are essential and deeply valued.
This week, we also celebrate After-school Professionals Week and thank all of the BPS Staff and Community Partnerships that provide our students with a safe, supportive, and enriching environment beyond the school day. After-school programs are an essential part of our school community and make a lasting impact. These programs provide enrichment opportunities, foster a sense of belonging, and offer families reassurance that their children are in capable, compassionate hands.
In partnership,
Iris White
Superintendent of Schools
Congratulations to Danielle Federowicz:
Danielle Federowicz, an eighth-grade social studies and AVID elective teacher at Chippens Hill Middle School, has been selected as a delegate to the We the Teachers: Preparing the Next Generation Through History and Civics national fellowship program at William and Mary. She was accepted to a summer fellowship at William and Mary University as part of a "Congress of Teachers" surrounding the study of America 250. Only two teachers were chosen from each of the 50 states to create this "Congress," and she was selected as one of them. Her selection to this national fellowship not only highlights her excellence as an educator but also reflects the outstanding educators throughout our district. We look forward to the knowledge and inspiration she will bring back to benefit our students and her colleagues.
Bristol Education Foundation Trivia Night:
Please save the date for this year's Bristol Education Foundation Trivia Night. All proceeds benefit the Bristol Education Foundation's efforts to award Mini Grants to Bristol Public School teachers and to support innovative programs for students. Please see the flyer below for details on the event, which will take place on November 6th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Register before July 1st to take advantage of the $40 Early Bird Ticket Price!
Bristol Boys and Girls Club Gala:
Congratulations to the Bristol Boys and Girls Club on their 5th Successful Annual Gala Event, "Glowing Up In The Club" on Saturday, April 11th. Proud to celebrate with Bristol Boys and Girls Club CEO Jay Maia and these lovely young ladies who represented the club so well. Thank you to the Carpenter Realty Company and the Barnes Family for making it possible for our students to attend the gala in style!
Diversity Club at Bristol Eastern High School:
Bristol Eastern High School held its annual Diversity Club Culture Day on Friday, April 10th. The day began with a parade around the school. I enjoyed listening to students as they proudly shared stories of their heritage. Bristol’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, enriching our schools and preparing our students to thrive in a global society. Please see the photo below of me with Mr. Orlando Valle and the student organizers.

Bristol Public Schools Art Show:
Art teachers will distribute invitations to participating students and their families, and an updated event poster will be shared shortly.
This event is a wonderful celebration of student creativity and the dedication of our talented educators. We look forward to seeing our community come together to support and enjoy the remarkable work on display.
